* here's the rawstory article confirming that everyone knows that Karl is appearing in front of the GJ again
* FDL here
* a scripps-howard piece here - which basically outlines the scenario that i laid out last week - although i figured there would probably be an interim 'distancing' step because i didnt see last week's announcement as sufficient to really create any real whitespace between Rove and the WH
* Leopold is reporting that Rove has received a target letter

If the "target letter" story is true, I think we can all plan on having a few good parties this weekend. I cautiously predict we'll have our indictments this week.
i hope yuo're right
i'm a bit more cautious - i'll add a cushion of a week
Agreed lukery.
But I wonder if Rove didn't just cop a plea today. According to Luskin, Fitz has said Rove's not a target.
Some of us at FDL and dkos were speculating that Fitz called Luskin and Rove in this morning to discuss a plea, and let them know if they walked away now, that indictments were imminent.
Rove had no choice but to plea out, and he must have told the GJ quite a story this afternoon.
Alternatively, Fitz is wrapping up his case, and the grand jurors wanted to hear from Rove himself before Fitz presented them with indictments to hand up.
Either way, I expect at least some indictments next week. If Rove copped, I bet Fitz goes after Hadley and/or Addington (the next layer up on the food chain). This will also make Libby sweat a bit more.
I think Fitz isn't done until he gets to the Big Cheese himself, Cheney.
oooh jeebus. what i wouldnt give to see addington in chains.
viget - i suspect that Rove has already (previously) copped a plea deal - is it possible that he was orchestrating a *separate* plea deal this morn?
I agree. In some ways, it would almost be better if Addington were out of the picture, since he's the architect of the "preznit is king" doctrine.
I actually think that the two most dangerous people in the admin are Addington and Robert Joseph. Addington thinks the executive can do whatever the hell he wants, and Joseph thinks that the US can nuke anyone anytime for any reason.
Cheney actually looks sane next to these two loons. Except they've both got his ear right now, and that's not so good. And Cheney has W's ear.
If Fitzgerald could neutralize these two, I'd sleep better at night.
Hmmm, 2 plea deals? Could be.
Maybe the one today might have to do with obstruction and/or perjury charges related to the whole vivnovak bs story.
I could see Rove copping the initial plea to perjury/false statements around the Hadley email after the Vnovak story didn't go over so well (this might have happened early this year in Jan or Feb).
Perhaps Luskin turned state's witness against Rove on the Vnovak cover story, so Rove had to plea out on that as well, and is now helping Fitz figure out who was responsible for deleting/hiding the emails in the first place?
In any case, I place great significance on the idea that Luskin will not 100% say his client is in the clear, when before he seemed to have no qualms about saying that. Add that to the fact that Luskin had been AWFULLY quiet these past 4 months or so (only breaking silence last week with the NY Sun article), and it makes me wonder if Luskin knows that there will be some charges for Rove, the only question is how many. And that's determined by how well Rove cooperates.
and if we could take out elliot abrams as well... sigh - a boy can dream...
addington is a fucking psycho - imagine if fitz could get some daylight between addington and cheney - that is probably the single most dangerous relationship. if we could break that one up, our children might have a future
i dont really care what luskin has to say... so much nonsense that it's rarely even worth trying to parse - altho this one was a beauty: "In connection with his appearance..."
