'sealed vs cheney'

* emptywheel:
"Also, honestly, if Rove has flipped with Bush's approval, I think it's a crystal clear indication that Libby's surefire pardon is no longer so surefire. I could be wrong there, and I'm sure Libby's got a much better sense than I what this means, but if I were him, I'd be thinking a lot more about my own protection. Does that mean Libby'll flip? Probably not, you're right about fanatical loyalty to Libby. But does that mean Fitzgerald wouldn't try to push him to do so? Hope.

Until Fitz has issued more indictments, he will treat this as the only case he's got. And he will continue to try to convince Libby to settle. One good way to do that is to continue convincing him that going to trial won't accomplish the one thing Libby's lies were designed to accomplish, saving Cheney's ass. If Fitz has more on Cheney, it no longer serves Libby or the cabal to draw this out."

"This thought is really for emptywheel (just in case she looks in) (and I fully appreciate that I may be getting a little bit ahead of myself here), but you don't suppose just for one second that when Jason's sources reported to him the other day about papers being served, maybe those sources spoofed him just a bit, and that those papers had really been sealed and sent to DC's legal team instead of KR's?

And now Sealed Vs Sealed is actually Sealed Vs Cheney?

Like I say, just a thought!"
hmmm - wouldnt that be great - although i cant see it. i do suspect that jason was spoofed - for one reason or other - although i'm not sure what the possible justification would be for the headfake to try to cover for 'sealed vs cheney'

I have to say I feel a little bit guilty about saying "Leopold Lied".

I was just venting the frustration many of us in the "reality-based" community felt. And many of us felt the need to take it out on someone. Leopold made an easy target to vent our collective frustration.

I do feel we need to take a bit of a step back and give Leopold a chance to explain himself. We should not "eat our own"; in general, we need to be more supportive of journalists in the alternative media; they will not always be right, and in general, they are doing the best that they can.

If Leopold did lie, I believe he will deserve everything he gets. But if he was misled by a source, we need to support him if/when he outs his source.
