"Is the marketing campaign against Iran begun?* emptywheel on iran:
"Basically, the report appears to be the first salvo in a fall campaign to justify a war against Iran (with Andy Card gone, they've perhaps forgotten that you don't introduce a new "product" in August). Only this time, they're not just presenting us with shitty intelligence and telling us we have to go to war (though the report does serve that purpose too). They're also saying, "the intelligence is shitty, so we cannot negotiate and therefore have to go to war.""

This Chicago Tribune article would've been perfect marketing trick, if they only had omitted "one-fifth" of the following:
Not only did the U.S. provide the reactor in the 1960s as part of a Cold War strategy, America also supplied the weapons-grade uranium needed to power the facility--fuel that remains in Iran and could be used to help make nuclear arms.
[...]
The fuel is about one-fifth the amount needed to make a nuclear weapon, but experts said it could be combined with other material to construct a bomb.
See, they DO have rich uranium, because evil USA provided it. Now that's a delicious little tidbit that many lefty unamericans are ready and willing to swallow as whole, without noticing (or caring about) the sharp bone splinter of need-for-immediate-action that's sticking out of it.
Recruit lefty blogs to carry warmonger message? They can't be that daring, can they? Anyway, I was probably shocked for nothing, since the article pretty much defused the case for that claim.
lol.
quandry indeed.
as i quoted arkin today - he's scared that lamont and bush are on the same side.
and then of course, it's musharaff and his friends (incl halliburton) that have done much of the supplying.
the trick of course is to argue that the americans dont have the right to bomb iran - even if they have 'wmds'.
she's all tunnel, no bridge.
(btw - that's probably the cleverest thing i've ever written)
"she's all tunnel, no bridge."
Heh . . .
Here's a techie question for y'all. My computer cannot seem to handle these YouTube videos (also Google videos) but has no trouble whatsoever with Real, Quick Time, iTunes, or Windows Media . . . but the YouTubes run in such a jerky fashion, it is not only impossible to follow the sound track, the video part is the same, stopping about every second. Any ideas?
LeeB - here's what i do.
i press the play button, and mute either my computer or the youtube, and then i let it play thru all the way till the end. once it has finished, unmute, and drag the 'progress indicator' back to the start - and it'll play straight thru :-)
LeeB (and Luke): Youtube and other videos are generally downloaded even while they're paused, so start loading and pause right after that. When it's been loaded enough (see progress bar), play.
thnx teemu - that's what i do with Real - but i seem to have less luck with youtube.
btw - another reader mentioned that 'maybe teemu will be interested in' some of the finland reports at waynemadsenreport.com this past week.
lr
i do exactly what Superteemu does--begin downloading and then hit pause and then wait until it's all done.
ps, i won't use Real even though i've heard i miss a lot. prolly a holdover from when i was on a PC but still.
Hey, thanks, everybody! I was blaming it on an older, not quite so quick processor. I'm really glad I asked.
So, not even a little bit OT, here's one of my favorites - a new look at lions and *lambs* for this world that would very much like a bit of PEACE.
thank you, LeeB; i'm ODing over here on kitty cuteness. :-)
LeeB
very cute.
Did y'all happen to notice how many hits that particular YouTube contribution has collected? It is a great lesson for small children (and their parents) to teach VERY EARLY the principles of peace and acceptance - no, celebration - of differences.
Kitty YouTube views: 1.5m
Atlas Vbloggs at the beach views: 35,000
HA! Peace, racial and cultural acceptance and diversity prevail!! Yay! :-)
I takes my encouragements where I find 'em . . .
LeeB - you might like this diversity

Do. I. Ever.
Too cute for words. A much-needed diversion from bu$hco madness. Thank you!
