a pre-emptive response to Kean and Hamilton's book,

* emptywheel:
"Today, we learn that the Pentagon IG report that the 9/11 Commission requested in lieu of making a recommendation for criminal investigation to DOJ was actually completed last year, in May... Though, as the NYT reveals, this is a report, but it doesn't address the heart of the issue, whether the Pentagon officials lied to the 9/11 Commission.
[]
Now there are a lot of theories you can formulate based on the evidence, depending on whether you're a MIHOP, LIHOP or "they were too incompetent to respond" believer. Me, I believe they invented the opportunity for Dick to give shoot-down orders to make him look manly and strong.

But it seems fairly clear that the IG report is a whitewash, ignoring the critical issue (whether Scott and Arnold lied intentionally), and offering an excuse about the handwritten logs already disproven by the 9/11 Commission Report.
[]
I actually suspect this is all a pre-emptive response to Kean and Hamilton's book, of which we'll see more in the next two weeks. will be quite challenging for BushCo."
