Joe Wilson and Pat Fitzgerald should apologize

* tpmm:
"A release just out from the Justice Department states that Ney's is a two count plea, and he's pleading to bad doings beyond Jack Abramoff."

* tpmcafe:
"Asked about GOP Rep. John Boehner's recent remark that Dems might rather protect terrorists than protect Americans, Bush started off by saying that no one should ever question critics' patriotism—then quickly corrected himself to say that he would never question critics' patriotism."
watch the 2 min video. also look for the 'illegal eavesdropping' moment at the end - this is why I call him the Inappropriate Sniggerer. (more on the eavesdropping comment here)

* BOPnews is alive. sort of.

* Toensing in the wsj:
"What a Load of Armitage!
What did Patrick Fitzgerald know, and when did he know it?
[]
It is not just Mr. Armitage who should apologize. So should Joe Wilson and Pat Fitzgerald."
yada.

And I'm a purple polkadot albatross. How horrifying to think some people read that rubbish and think it means something.

Corn is a dear boy! I started laughing. I don't know why this case has been so hard to understand for some people, or why anyone would defend the leakers, when the facts and law are so very concise. And I don't know why the whole miserable lot aren't rotting behind bars.

Luke: "complicit"

Yes!! The very first time I heard about this, the very first thing I thought was, "heh, that one goes all the way to the front office." Yet, still the assertion it was an innocent slip of the tongue by some minor player, and mistakes were made. And what is Fitzgerald's problem? All these excuses. I'm sick of it all, the rhetoric, the news reporting. I want guys' butts in slings.

Patience with Fitz, Mr. U --

The wheels of justice grind slowly, but they grind exceedingly fine.

He doesn't look so tough to me. I'll fight him.

LeeB I hope yuo are right - ashes to ashes, dust to dust.

I hope I'm right,too!

More than once I have observed formal criminal charges be pored over by defense attorneys looking for anything and everything that can be used against the prosecution. Sometimes the bad guys get off on "techicalities" . . . those prosecutorial 'i's that weren't dotted or 't's that weren't crossed.

Fitz doesn't have a rep for carelessness.

unlike some commenters who miss typos . . .

. . . like "technicalities

jeez!

LeeB - lol.

re Fitz' rep - madsen has a new piece where he says that Fitz is caving currently b/c Gonzales et al are holding his feet to the fire b/c of earlier errors in the earlier wtc bombing... fwiw.

Okay. I trotted over to read Madsen. As-per-usual Madsen.

No corroboration.
No documents.
No sources.

It will be interesting to see if there is any comment from Larry Johnson or Joe Wilson, not to mention EW.

I'll wait.

yeah - i dont take much from it (someone happened to mention it over at ew's place)

the stuff about Fitz and the earlier WTC trials also came up in the latest book by Peter Lance
