Love or loathe President George W. Bush

* tpmm:
"Coingate felon and Bush fundraising Pioneer Tom Noe was sentenced to two years, three months in prison today for illegally funneling $45,400 to Bush's 2004 reelection campaign.

But that's not all. Noe still faces state criminal charges for allegedly embezzling $1 million and laundering more than $2 million from a $50 million rare-coin investment that he managed for the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation.'
* emptywheel:
"Our goal is to bring this book out just in time for the trial. We’ve got three goals for it:
  • Provide a primer of the events and the people involved in the Plame Leak so those just tuning in as Scooter takes the stand will know how he got there
  • Show how the cocktail weenie culture of Beltway journalism was complicit in the leak, both during the actual leak phase, and in helping Libby and Rove game the investigation
  • Challenge the narrative Libby’s lawyers want to tell about the events"
ew., superstar.

* froomkin:
"A new Gallup Poll taken after Bush's series of major speeches last week finds his approval rating down three points to 39 percent from three weeks ago.
[]
CNN reports: "The percentage of Americans who blame the Bush administration for the September 11, 2001, attacks on New York and Washington has risen from almost a third to almost half over the past four years, a CNN poll released Monday found.

"Asked whether they blame the Bush administration for the attacks, 45 percent said either a 'great deal' or a 'moderate amount,' up from 32 percent in a June 2002 CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll.""
* froomkin:
"What's also telling, as usual, is what Bush didn't say yesterday, and doesn't say, period.

He doesn't say we won't allow ourselves to be terrorized, and we won't be afraid. (That would run counter to the central Republican game plan for the mid-term election.) He doesn't say that in our zeal to fight the terrorists, we won't give up the qualities that make America great. He acknowledges no mistakes, he calls for no sacrifice, he refuses to reach out to those who disagree with him."
* paul gigot (via froomkin):
" "Love or loathe President George W. Bush, you can't say he lacks the courage of his convictions."
oh god. don't tell me they're are gonna try that one again. (although i kinda hope they do)

I'm feeding some cats outside, because they won't come in. At night, if I don't bring the bowl in, it gets taken over by possums, which I chase away. They remind me of Bush--that blank look, those beady eyes, the prehensile tail. Today while channel surfing I caught The 700 Club claiming his approval rating had risen to 42%. Lies like that from self described Christian organizations shakes my faith. But, mama always told me, if you can't say something good, so: Dubya is good for something, and that is, he restores my faith that there is a God. He's an all-knowing, benevolent God, and he's a vengeful God who will burn Bush and Cheney in hell forever. I have no doubt, I know it's true.
