projection: a defense mechanism

* Ron:
"Congressman John Conyers schools The Wall Street Journal on the difference between "explicit" and "implicit.""
* Conyers:
"Psychologists use the term projection to describe a defense mechanism used by those who have unwanted or undesirable impulses or motivations. Lacking an effective way of dealing with those impulses or motivations, the individual projects them onto others. In essence, a person claims that other people are driven by the forces that he or she is driven by.

That's what I thought of when I read the Wall Street Journal Editorial Page today."
* amy:
"UN: Israel Commits 70 Ceasefire Violations; Hezbollah Commits 4
Meanwhile, Israel is coming under criticism for continuing attacks inside Lebanon despite the UN-brokered ceasefire. The UN says Israel has committed seventy violations since the ceasefire was reached. Hezbollah has committed four violations during the same period."

* amy:
"Vatican, Churches Criticize Christian Zionist Movement
In other news from the region, the Vatican and three churches in Israel have come out against the Christian Zionist movement -- the American evangelicals who have lobbied the US government for aggressive support of Israel’s policies. In a statement called the “Jerusalem Declaration on Christian Zionism”, the four Church groups write: "The Christian Zionist programme provides a world view where the Gospel is identified with the ideology of empire, colonialism and militarism. We reject the teachings of Christian Zionism that facilitate and support these policies as they advance racial exclusivity and perpetual war."

* corn:
"In the meantime, there should be more news out of HUBRIS next week--just as the book goes on sale. The book has revelations to discomfort folks on both sides of the aisle. But I wonder if the cons who embrace (and miscast) the Armitage news out of the book as absolution of the White House regarding the leak case will so eagerly accept the implications of these other disclosures. We might just see some end-of-summer cherry-picking."

on Conyers and projection: In essence, a person claims that other people are driven by the forces that he or she is driven by.

and that's been their MO for the last six plus years. (me stating the obvious for a change). the thing of it is, most people don't realise this. one of my little rules which i've learnt (and Dave over at 'seeing the forest' had the same just about when i first posted it) is 'whatever they do/accuse the Left and/or Democratic party, rest assured that it's them who're doing same.'
