Something big is up

Cannon on Larisa's latest:

Iran-amuck, pt. 2

From RAW Story:
The Chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, Peter Hoekstra (R-MI), has recently held meetings in Paris with a front man working for Iranian arms dealer and Iran-Contra figure Manucher Ghorbanifar, US and foreign intelligence sources tell RAW STORY.
There seems to be a faction within the Iranian power structure that wants an American military strike. Ghorbanifar is tied in with that faction, and with Ledeen and the neocon plotters.

An unconfirmed report links another Iran-contra mystery man, Vaughn Forrest, with these covert meetings. (There have been at least two.) Forrest worked with Rob Owen, Ollie North, John Hull -- ah, those names bring one back! He seems to have an affection for spooked up congressmen; back then, he worked for Florida Republican Bill McCollum. But what really intrigues me is this resume (now available only via Google cache):
Vaughn Forrest, also a co-founder of AFG Biosolutions, has over 25 years experience in coordinating national security and domestic policy with the White House, U.S. Congress, and executive government departments and agencies. His national security and intelligence expertise includes operational experience in the Middle East and Central Asia. He was the Founding Director of the Task Force on Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare of the U.S. House of Representatives. He also founded the Higgins Terrorism Research Center, a non-profit corporation that focuses on the causes, cultures and operations of terrorist entities and provides anti-terrorism instruction to local, state and federal government agencies.

Mr. Forrest is one of the world’s leading experts in infrastructure protection technologies, experience he uses to help investors evaluate technologies for development or financing. He works closely with former Soviet biological warfare scientists and scientists at American universities to develop novel approaches to bolster the immune system in order to counter biological weapons.
Something big is up. I've been saying that a lot lately, haven't I?

Hoekstra's committee recently prepared a report on Iran's "nuclear development", which, unlike all other reports done by several staff researchers, this one was prepared by one person, our old freind Fred Fleitz, just in time for Bolton to rattle it before the UN Security Council.
