Arkansas GOP chief Dennis Milligan:
He said he’s “150 percent” behind Bush on the war in Iraq.
“At the end of the day, I believe fully the president is doing the right thing, and I think all we need is some attacks on American soil like we had on [Sept. 11, 2001 ], and the naysayers will come around very quickly to appreciate not only the commitment for President Bush, but the sacrifice that has been made by men and women to protect this country,” Milligan said. We're hearing all too much of this kind of talk, especially the last few weeks. In his "bad August" speech before the war funding bill vote, Bush assured the audience America will be attacked by terrorists again. While we have learned to filter out this kind of shameless fear mongering, his statement had the strange quality of being more of a promise than an assurance. The look on Bush's face was disquieting; it reminded me of the look on my cat's face when he brings a slaughtered mouse in for my perusal. Could it be Bush has August in mind for the next domestic terrorist attack?
