New Hampshire phone-jamming scheme

* miriam at rawstory:
"Explosive new revelations have rocked San Diego's 51st Congressional race, including allegations of bigamy and bribery leveled against two candidates (one Republican, one Democrat) vying for the seat currently occupied by Democrat Bob Filner. Filner has previously been accused of corruption by his opponents, leaving bewildered voters in the 51st to sift through the mud, no doubt feeling much like Diogenes--in search of an honest man."
* john at raw:
"The fourth man indicted in a New Hampshire phone-jamming scheme -- in which Republican operatives jammed the phone lines of Democratic get-out-the-vote efforts in a 2002 Senate race -- will argue at trial that the Bush Administration and the national Republican Party gave their approval to the plan, according to a motion filed by his attorney Thursday.
[]
His lawyer's motion signals that Hansen intends to argue that he was entrapped because the Administration allegedly told his superiors the calls were legal. "

* emptywheel:
"I've been saying this for months. It's not Plame that will get these guys chased outta government. It's the NH phone jamming and Tom Noe's piggy bank.
[]
Rove/Mehlman and don't forget Haley Barbour and Ed Gillespie. We're going to roll up the last 3 RNC chairmen with this. (Wishful thinking, no doubt, but it'd be fun!)"

I had concerns about Bajagua and Filner earlier too. But if Bajagua affects Filner's campaign, then it should have also affected Bilbray, because he was just as, if not moreso involved in that as a congressman, but subsequently as a lobbyist too. I think there's a reason that BOTH parties don't want this issue talked about much. Both parties lose out from it. Not sure if they told Busby she couldn't make it an issue with Filner and Vargas going at it, but that certainly seems like a possibility. If The Republicans want to make an issue of this now to go after Filner, then I would expect Busby to pull of the gloves and make it an issue for Bilbray for November too! And perhaps even Rinaldi will attack Duncan Hunter with it too.
