repeats the same lines over and over

* keith olbermann slams rumsfeld. watch.

* preznit blinky speaks:
"WILLIAMS: The folks who say you should have asked for some sort of sacrifice from all of us after 9/11, do they have a case looking back on it?

BUSH: Americans are sacrificing. I mean, we are. You know, we pay a lot of taxes. America sacrificed when they, you know, when the economy went into the tank. Americans sacrificed when, you know, air travel was disrupted. American taxpayers have paid a lot to help this nation recover. I think Americans have sacrificed."

* margaret warner on lehrer reporting from Ahmadinejad's press conference yesterday in Iran (real audio): (my paraphrase)
Ahmadinejad makes his arguments very effectively. He's not like an old-style 'revolutionary leader' who repeats the same lines over and over...
inadvertently funny. (you should actually listen to the whole lot - 5 mins. it's difficult to comprehend the unintended irony through most of the report.)

* Arkin:
"Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld delivered a fire-and-brimstone speech at the American Legion's annual convention yesterday -- after acknowledging young soldiers serving in Iraq and giving the boy scouts a shout-out, the secretary wove an elaborate picture of an enemy made up of terrorists, morally misguided Westerners, disagreeable military strategists, and a cynical news media.
[]
Rumsfeld is ... right, and everyone who disagrees is not only wrong, but a danger to freedom.
[]
Either Rumsfeld has delivered one of the most important speeches of the modern era, or he's gone crazy.
[]
If I were the conspiratorial type, I'd say Rumsfeld was a particular menace to America because in his view of a monolithic and totalitarian terrorist enemy, and in his analysis of the weakness of American society, he can only come to the messianic conclusion that he indeed needs to takeover the country in order to save it. And this might even be worth speculating about were it the case that Rumsfeld reflected the views of those in the military leadership, or were it the case that Rumsfeld could actually engineer such a coup.

But alas, the secretary would get the intelligence wrong, employ too few troops and send tank columns on thunder runs through Manhattan and Hollywood, prematurely declaring victory and then being befuddled about the American desire to recover and preserve its way of life, which is not the Rumsfeld way."
* rimone in the comments:
"i shall try to STFU in future, as to not bring down the discourse even more than i already do."
all in favour say 'aye'

the hysterical part is that, in today's wapo, they're calling ken mehlman the "architect" of the r's fall campaign strategy... baloney... mehlman couldn't "architect" his way out of a wet paper bag... the whole thing is vintage rove, although rove, unlike ahmadinejad "repeats the same lines over and over..."

Rimone;
You're our treat! Couldn't do without your particular slant on things. It'd be like chips without salsa.

On Dopey, he's the best jive ass talker I've ever heard. You can listen to him, and in instant replay, you can't repeat what he just said because it makes so little sense, you just can't grasp it, anywhere.

Maybe that's the point. How many Americans do you figure can speak in complete sentences? Bubba Bohunks like that guy from New Orleans, who thinks Dopey should serve a third term, speak the same language, apparently.

Then there's Rummy and Darth. It takes one to know one. Those two Fascists have it all assbackwards, again. It's all so campy, it's like a Mel Brooks production.
